Roselle Hibiscus Tea

I fell in love with Agua De Jamaica at this little Mercado in El Paso Texas while we were stationed at Fort Bliss. Agua De Jamaica, commonly known as hibiscus tea, is a sweet, tart, refreshing beverage that has a beautiful cranberry color and is also described as similar to cranberry in flavor. The best part about this delicious beverage is that it is so incredibly easy to make and has loads of health benefits!

It is so easy to make all you need to do is pour 4 cups of water over 2 cups of roselle in a large saucepan. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then you will bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce it to a simmer for 5 minutes. Then you’ll want to remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool completely before straining. Using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth you will strain out all of the large pieces. Having something to press it with to get out all of the juice is also helpful, a ladle works great. Store in the fridge & serve over ice I love adding a splash of Agave to add a little sweetness.

We grow crazy amounts of roselle every summer in hopes of having enough to last us until the following season, it’s never enough. If you are interested in growing your own you can find seeds in our SHOP & all about how we grow them in the link below.

& While I love growing our own roselle we realize that isn’t an option for everyone, luckily you can also purchase dried roselle hibiscus (HERE).
