I grew up in a small town in rural Wisconsin. My food options were limited & consisted of mostly prepackaged processed snacks. In my teenage years, I moved to live with my dad in the suburbs of Phoenix. I was exposed to a whole world of different flavors & cultures. I soaked it up & tried just about everything once. There was one snack I absolutely fell head over heels in love with, hummus. Hummus with pita bread, hummus with chicken shawarma, hummus with veggies. Heck, I’d probably do a hummus facial if that was a thing.
Store-bought hummus can get pricey & contain questionable ingredients. This recipe is wildly quick to make & uses mostly simple ingredients. Tahini is an ingredient you may not be familiar with. It is a paste made from sesame seeds it has a distinct flavor & is imperative to making hummus. One container will last you dozens of batches of hummus.
A can of garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas), lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, salt & garlic is all you’ll need to make this recipe.
You will put all of your ingredients into a blender or food processor, blend until smooth & serve. It’s really that simple.
