Vanilla Ice Cream

Living in sunny Arizona ice cream is a staple pretty much year-round and we’re not mad about it. For Christmas of 2019, Santa brought us an ice cream maker (that man is brilliant). We’ve been addicted since.

This recipe is our favorite vanilla ice cream. This base recipe is perfect to make just about any flavor you can imagine. Salted Carmel, blueberry, strawberry, cookies and cream, and prickly pear are just a few of the flavors we’ve tried. With this basic vanilla ice cream recipe, the possibilities are endless.

This is the easiest most delicious and most versatile ice cream recipe you’ll ever need.

In a large bowl or a 4-cup measuring cup add your whole milk, heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Whisk together ingredients until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Turn on the ice cream machine and gently pour in the mixture.

Let the machine run for about 30 minutes. At this point, I always place whatever glass or metal dish I am going to store my ice cream in the freezer. This helps keep the ice cream from melting while you’re transferring it.

Add flavorings, such as caramel, chocolate, and syrups about 5 minutes before it’s ready. When the ice cream is to your desired thickness, take it out place it in your pre-frozen bowl, return to the freezer and let it firm for about 30 min- to 1 Hour. Enjoy!

Note: If you’d like to add chunkier ingredients, Reese’s, Chocolate Chips, or marshmallows, fold them in after you’ve finished mixing the ice cream in the machine.

Equipment

  • Ice Cream Maker

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Whipping Cream
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 1/2-3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1-2 Tbsp REAL Vanilla extract
  • 1 Tsp Salt

Instructions

  • Add all of your ingredients in to a bowl or 4 cup + measuring cup. Gently whisk the ingredients until they are completely dissolved. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
  • Turn on your ice cream maker & pour in the ingredients. Let churn for 20-30 minutes. While the ice cream is being made put its container in to the freezer so the ice cream has a nice cold place to go when its done churning.

Notes

If you are adding chunky mix-ins fold them in after ice cream has been churned otherwise flavor additions can be added right away.
